Shaelyn Wadden is a photographer/photo based artist from Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia. The majority of her work centres around the idea of mental health and community, particularly focusing on the relationships that she cherishes and has helped her through her mental health struggles. Alongside her works regarding mental health, she incorporates underlying messages of the importance of advocacy and understanding around learning disabilities and neurodivergence (particularly ADHD). Being neurodivergent and the lack of information that existed around females and neurodivergence has led Shaelyn to make multiple pieces that integrates photography and various media (screen printing, drawing, painting, etc.), highlighting the lack of information surrounding neurodivergence in women, and the effects that this lack of understanding can have on a person's mental health.Â
